For centuries, Grasse has been the capital of fragrance. This is where our compositions are created, and where each candle is poured: in a natural wax blend of coconut, soy, and beeswax, with ten percent perfume oil, in a matte black glass from ARC.

Behind every great fragrance stands a person. We call them by name: Caroline Casagrande composed Alpes du Sud and Lumière et Ombre, Rémi Barbier Taormina. Trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, at home between Grasse and Provence.

What makes these scented candles special?

Every candle is created in Grasse—the perfume capital of the world—in close collaboration with experienced perfumers. The compositions are strictly limited to 999 pieces and stand for atmosphere, origin, and uncompromising quality.

Who composes the fragrances?

Caroline Casagrande grew up in Grasse and was trained at ISIPCA in Versailles. She created Alpes du Sud and Lumière et Ombre. Rémi Barbier, born in Provence, learned his craft from the legendary Jean-Claude Ellena and also studied at ISIPCA. He created Taormina.

Where are the candles made?

All Cygnus Atratus candles are developed and manufactured in Grasse — the historic center of perfumery and the world capital of fragrance. No other place embodies the craft of scent as much as Grasse.

What is a candle made of?

Made from a natural wax blend of coconut, soy, and beeswax, without paraffin or palm oil, with ten percent fragrance oil. The matte black glass comes from the French manufacturer ARC, and the wick is set by hand. Filling quantity: 180 grams.

How do I care for my candle?

  1. When lighting, let it burn until the entire surface is liquid.
  2. Trim the wick to about five millimeters before each lighting.
  3. Do not let it burn for longer than three hours at a time.
  4. Avoid drafts.

How fast do you deliver?

We ship from our warehouse in Germany, usually within 2 to 4 business days. You can see the estimated delivery time directly at checkout.

Can I return a candle?

Yes, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal applies. Returns are straightforward via our returns portal, and you bear the return shipping costs at the regular DHL rate. Details are provided in the cancellation policy.

What does Batch 01 mean?

Batch 01 is our first edition: 999 candles, three times 333 per scent. Once an edition is sold out, the next one will follow.

How do I burn a candle correctly?

Trim the wick to about 5mm before each burn. On the first burn, the entire surface should melt completely – this prevents tunneling. Never burn the candle for longer than four hours and never in a draft. Never leave the burning candle unattended.

Is the candle suitable as a gift?

Yes, the candles make excellent high-quality gifts. Each candle comes in a matching matte black box with white printing. The glass jar with the metal lid can also be reused for storage after the candle has burned down.

Premium scented candles by Cygnus Atratus – composed by perfumers from Grasse

Each of the three Première Édition candles was developed in Grasse together with our partners Bougie et Senteur and Only Fragrances, and bears the name of its perfumer. Not as a marketing slogan, but to give perfumers the credit they deserve.

Taormina by Rémi Barbier opens with lemon and verbena, bright and hesperidic, with jasmine and rose at its heart. Alpes du Sud by Caroline Casagrande is green and aromatic, pine, lavender, and rosemary, with a woody base of cedarwood and oakmoss. Lumière et Ombre, also by Caroline Casagrande, is the darkest of the three, oriental-powdery with saffron and clove, honey and tobacco at its heart, vanilla and tonka bean at its base.

The real moment begins when you light it: a calm, steady flame, a warm light that transforms the room without overpowering it.
